Over the past ten weeks, 41 students from across Years 7 to 11 at Moama Anglican Grammar have been keeping a close eye on the sharemarket while competing against thousands of students from other schools across Australia in the annual ASX Schools Sharemarket Game. They each received a virtual $50,000 to trade in the top 200 stocks in Australian sharemarket. The game provides students each year with a fun way to learn about how the sharemarket works. Unfortunately this year, many of the students from our school ended up losing money rather than making money, highlighting the challenges involved in investing in the sharemarket over the short term. However, our school’s winning participant, Tanner Smith, did manage to make a nice profit of $664 over the ten weeks and at today’s assembly he received his prize.
